The skill "The Stare" gives Death trap a great ranged attack and "Make it Sparkle" will gaige you to give Death Trap's melee attacks elemental damage depending on what you shoot him with. The potential here for ridiculous damage is extremely high, if you can hit something at stacks. Using the Mechromancer effectively requires boosting the right stats, choosing skills that fit your play style, and remembering that Death Trap is very useful against ranged or melee enemies. Upshot Robot keeps Deathtrap out longer and more importantly it increases his melee damage AND yours with every kill, which is huge combined with With Claws. Don't forget that you are a fairly decent damage sponge as well so don't be afraid to mix it up during a fight and get some kills yourself to keep Death Trap's time remaining out continusouly up.
E-Tech Shock assault rifles are especially good with this skill tree as the high fire rate and decent damage and accuracy mean lots of electrocution damage and critical hits which will set of "Shock Storm"'s electrical storm effect and "Electrical Burn"'s bonus fire damage. If an enemy runs up to you quickly reload and blast them with some stunning electrocution and then put em down quick. If you prematurely reload while you have Anarchy stacks and you realize that your reloading, quickly relic to another gun before you finish the reload to keep your stacks.
